A energia colectiva que anda meio adormecida em Portugal, acordou com Fé viva, vibrante, tranquila, convicta
A Jornada Mundial da Juventude que decorreu entre 2 e 6 de Agosto em Lisboa funcionou em modelo de perfeição, e teve efeitos que reflectem surpreendentes qualidades lusitanas. A energia colectiva que anda meio adormecida em Portugal, acordou com Fé viva, vibrante, tranquila, convicta. Um estrondoso sucesso.
Os próprios produtores, realizadores e actores de todo esta coisa colossal que aconteceu em Portugal também ficaram estupefactos com o conseguido. Foi uma manifestação de Fé que, além dos Peregrinos, teve a montante milhares e milhares de voluntários anónimos, que é o que a Igreja Católica usa em geral na sua Missão, muitos sacrificando múltiplos interesses pessoais, ficando-se também a dever aos Presidentes das Câmaras de Lisboa, Loures, Oeiras e Cascais, e a todos os seus leais colaboradores.
A expectativa da presença do Papa Francisco foi um forte estímulo. A eficácia da organização, os meios financeiros privados e públicos, os espaços ímpares que foram escolhidos, tudo foi surpreendente. Funcionou como um relógio que pareceu ser suíço. Inverosímil, mas não, foi tudo made in Portugal. E sem ser de improviso.
Um factor chave foi a comunicação. A cobertura mediática da JMJ durante 5 dias foi a mais completa a que Portugal jamais assistiu.
Em termos de utilidade prática, a comunicação mais eficaz talvez tenha sido a da organização, a que ficou no anonimato. Foram 4 anos de trabalho muito bem feito pelos voluntários, que conseguiu porosidade até à medula do target (1.500.000 jovens vindos da nossa terra e de todo o mundo) e também dos cidadãos em geral.
Esse esforço de comunicação culminou numa App para smartphones que foi a verdadeira e inseparável bússola dos Peregrinos. A App Lisboa 2023 era enciclopédica, actualizada cada dia, em vários idiomas. Se nos cingirmos aos eventos, e sem referir os principais com o Papa Francisco, havia-os às centenas, a todas as horas, organizados por um número sem fim de instituições e congregações, ou mesmo indivíduos. Na App, estava tudo para todos.
E lá se encontravam também os organizados em torno do Bispo Robert Barron, de Rochester, Minnesota, EUA, um personagem que, sendo filósofo, encontra em Karl Marx, Friederich Nietzsche, Jean Paul Sartre e Michel Foucault a explicação estruturada e clara para muito do que se passa na nossa cultura contemporânea. Em matéria de evangelização, montou uma das mais notórias máquinas de comunicação do mundo católico global.
Pertence à “nova onda teológica”, que emergiu após o Concílio Vaticano II, com pontaria à evangelização do mundo pós-cristão da sociedade ocidental, híper materialista, que se está a esgotar no consumo e no individualismo levado ao limite, em progressivo distanciamento da religiosidade.
Com coerência na ortodoxia e uma inesgotável energia, combina o velho com o novo, encontrando uma resposta, ou melhor, uma alternativa, para as alas conservadoras e progressistas pós-conciliares da Igreja Católica. Responde assim à polarização entre católicos liberais que estavam com o espírito do Concílio, mas rejeitando a sua letra, e os tradicionalistas que responsabilizavam o Concílio por inúmeras dificuldades criadas em diversas frentes.
É colossal o valor que acrescenta através da comunicação digital, no You Tube, no Instagram, nos Podcasts, nos Ebooks, cursos online, livros e revistas físicas, etc
Quem estiver familiarizado com a literatura Católica (por exemplo, Thomas Merton, Dante Alighieri, Edith Stein, Flannery O’Connor – que Barron considera a melhor ficcionista Católica do nosso tempo), pode perceber o impulso e as intenções da espiritualidade Católica que ele imprime à sua evangelização. Encontra nesses escritores, e num poeta como Bob Dylan, matrizes comportamentais e de contemporaneidade que emprestam grande frescura ao seu discurso. S. Tomás de Aquino, tal como Santo Agostinho e S. Thomas More são mestres espirituais, por natureza, de Barron.
Refrescantes são muitas das frequentes citações, como as que faz de J.R.R. Tolkien, e do seu best-seller “O Senhor dos Anéis”, uma alavanca com eco, pois o livro vendeu mais de 150 milhões de exemplares, e em três filmes facturou US$3.000 milhões e 17 Oscar. E também recorre a teólogos como Urs von Balthazar (suiço) e C. S. Lewis (“Crónicas de Narnia”, um must para crianças, este sendo um anglicano de nome, mas de perfil católico, por isso não se percebendo a razão por que não se converteu). Na literatura francesa, além de Descartes, encontra múltiplas reflexões em François Mauriac, Max Jacob, René Girard, etc, etc.
O Bispo Fulton Sheen (1875-1979), como comunicador não teve até hoje paralelo. Num programa de televisão entre 1951 e 1957 e depois no início dos anos 60, intitulado “Vale a pena viver a vida”, atraía todas as semanas 30 milhões de espectadores, que lhe endereçavam 25.000 cartas por dia. E batia Frank Sinatra nas audiências. Barron, numa sociedade descristianizada, e com uma concorrência mediática que Sheen não tinha, compara bem no número de seguidores regulares.
Tal como Sheen, mas num mundo novo, o Bispo Barron é um intelectual de gabarito. Além de uma cultura geral ad infinitum, a sua erudição teológica faz lembrar Bento XVI e, naturalmente, João Paulo II. Na Igreja Católica, o comunicador por excelência é, em regra o Papa. Francisco tem milhões de seguidores pois, além de outras qualidades, a sua abordagem teológica utiliza temáticas que o tornam um íman para a juventude.
Com palavra fácil, articulada, límpida, transparente, acessível ao comum dos mortais, o Bispo de Rochester, no Minesotta, comunica de forma superlativa os seus conteúdos. É colossal o valor que acrescenta através da comunicação digital, no You Tube, no Instagram, nos Podcasts, nos eBooks, cursos online, livros e revistas físicas, etc. Os estúdios vídeo e audio nas vizinhanças da Clínica Mayo estão apetrechados com soft e hardware de topo, e o profissionalismo da sua equipa é invulgar.
A evangelização de Barron consegue através de múltiplas plataformas ser global e chegar a milhões (ver a base em Word on Fire https://www.wordonfire.org/ e Word on Fire Institute https://www.wordonfire.org/ ). Se o leitor escolher a App Podcasts no seu Tablet, Smart Phone, ou PC, procure “Sunday Sermons”, “Word on Fire Show” e “Evangelization Culture”. É claro que é tudo em inglês, mas com fundo e forma cristalinos. Pode-se garantir: quem se interessar por alguns detses podcasts, vai ser difícil não continuar a ouvir outros, e depois procurar no YouTube o nome de Robert Barron.
Barron dá master classes de comunicação na área religiosa, e nas frentes teológica, filosófica e sociológica. Debate com clarividência frente a figuras de nomeada, tanto complexas questões religiosas, como temas fracturantes ligados ao género, wokeismo, eutanásia, aborto, etc, etc,. E o segredo do êxito de Barron reside na comunicação digital, que chega a tudo e a todos, sobretudo aos jovens. Como é que 40.000 jovens franceses, gente em geral com uma cultura fortemente antiamericana, foram a Algés para ouvir o yankee Robert Barron? A resposta é simples: comunicação eficaz.
